North Carolina DECA is an association of high school students enrolled in the Marketing Education program. Through classroom learning, on-the-job training, and experiences in DECA, students in our program learn marketing, management, and entrepreneurship skills. Each year, students from across the state come together for a series of competitive events which are evaluated by business and industry professionals like you. We expect over 2,200 students to compete in this year's events, and we need a minimum of 350 business and industry professionals to serve as judges. We would like you to be an integral part of our conference by participating as a judge!
In our competitive events, students analyze situations or problems encountered by business professionals and react to these problems by providing recommendations or solutions using creative marketing and management skills. You, as a judge, evaluate students' ideas and understanding of marketing concepts. We would be very happy if you would consider judging for our upcoming competition which takes place from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 and/or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2011. We will conduct a thorough orientation to make you feel comfortable in this important role.
This year’s competition takes place at the Joseph S. KouryConvention Center at the Sheraton Hotel, Four Seasons in Greensboro. Free parking is provided. Please read the enclosed information for a better understanding of our program and your part in evaluating our students. Contact Gwen Shaw-Deberry, our Director of Judges, at 919-784-4520 or decajudges@gmail.com if you have any questions. To assist us in organizing the evaluation system for this event, please complete the “Judge Registration”. Your response will be confirmed prior to the conference.
North Carolina DECA celebrates its 68th year of excellence with the 2012 conference theme, "North Carolina DECA...WANTED: Only the Best...Stake Your Claim in the Wild, Wild West!“ We sincerely hope you will choose to be part of this educational and valuable student conference.
